Pete Crawford
World-Class Sound Engineer, Writer, Clinician, and Adjudicator
Pete obtained his BA in Music Composition and Percussion Performance from California State University, Bakersfield. His marching percussion instructors include Alex Herrera and Tony Nunez. In 2002, Peter marched with Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps and in 2006 he aged out with Valley Independent Percussion as the tenor line section leader. He has written for and taught at numerous high schools in the southwest area. He volunteered with Golden Empire Drum & Bugle corps for their inaugural year as a sound designer and engineer. Pete has worked with Velvet Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Orange County Independent Open Percussion, and Odyssey Indoor Percussion. He was also a performing member for the first two years of WGI Winds with Orange County Independent Winds Ensemble, where he medaled in the Independent World class both years (Silver then Bronze). He was the lead arranger for Chops Inc. Drum & Bugle Corps for 2014 and 2015 and wrote the music book for the entire corps both years. In 2019, Pete joined the Santa Clara Vanguard as one of the lead sound engineers where they earned the bronze medal. In 2022 he led the Crossmen Audio team and oversaw the design and deployment of their audio system.
In the professional entertainment world Pete has had the privilege of working with such artists as Tom Segura, Tiffany Haddish, Joe Rogan, Bert Kreischer, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Alien Ant Farm, POD, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Tinashe, Chris Botti, T Pain, and even Styx.
Pete is currently the Front Ensemble Coordinator and Audio Manager for Golden Empire Drum & Bugle Corps, and the Bakersfield College Drumline from Bakersfield, CA. He also does sound design and digital music editing for colorguard groups. He is a percussion adjudicator in the Central CA area, and a professional recording and sound engineer working at many prominent local entertainment venues in Bakersfield, most notably at The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater and the 1933 Prohibition Event Center. Pete is a proud member of the Innovative Percussion Inc. educational artist family.
